As I write this, the Boulder County Clerk’s office is still counting votes, but the spread between me and Matthew is holding pretty consistent (currently it’s at 758 votes). So, it is time to officially close out my campaign.  It has been such a unique and life-changing journey, and the very best part of it was meeting so many amazing people along the way. As I look through the list of names of supporters, volunteers, and people who have helped me in various manners, I will take with me wonderful memories of our interactions.

There are many things I would do differently were I back at the beginning of this process, but none of them are probably what people would expect or even maybe want. Overall, I am proud of the campaign I ran and incredibly grateful for the people who dropped literature, contributed money, peppered me with texts, calls, and emails of encouragement, and helped me refine my platform and execute on my goals.  My only true regret is that I won’t be able to serve the people who put their faith in me. For that I am genuinely sorry.

When I started this process, I had many goals for my campaign, and I am happy that I managed to achieve all but the last one of those goals. For some people, the loss of that one would negate the value of the rest, but I honestly don’t see it that way.

Many of you have asked me what is next, and I don’t know yet. I do know that I won’t be going away, just evolving. If you’d like to stay connected, make sure you’ve subscribed at the bottom of my website’s home page to receive updates. I promise I won’t flood your inboxes or share your information, but I might let you know when a big issue emerges or something pivotal happens in our Ward. And, if you have ideas of where you think I might be of service, I would love to hear your suggestions!

Finally, I will close with this: Matthew is our elected Council member now. He spent the last few months getting to know more about our Ward and our concerns, and he represents all of us – not just those who voted for him. Speak up. Contact him with concerns. Share your ideas and talents with him. Encourage him to do the right things for our neighborhoods.

But most of all, take care of yourselves and the ones you love. Be well.

Thank you again, Longmont. ♥️️

On the Sterling Spin podcast, Matthew asked me why I haven’t been involved in Longmont politics during the time he has lived in Longmont (since 2021). It’s an understandable question on its face – from his perspective and many others’, I am an unknown. During all the years I worked in government, I followed politics…
